The "International Journal and Database of Geoengineering Case Histories" is an
activity stimulated by the enthusiasm of members of our Profession and supported
by the professionalism of a company that guarrantees its continuance. Participating
in such an effort makes you a member on a continually growing activity.
In addition to that, there are many reasons for sharing your professional experience
with this journal:
Because this is Journal of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and
Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), the pre-eminent professional body
representing the interests and activities of Engineers, Academics and
Contractors all over the world that actively participate in ground engineering.
Your manuscript will be published as soon as it is accepted and all the
modifications recommended by the reviewers are made. The review procedure
is as strict as in the most prestigious journals, but publication time is minimized.
Because the journal relates to case histories, it is expected to become
particularly popular among design and construction firms. By writing a paper to
this journal, you reach the most active individuals of geoengineering practice.
As more data are stored the International Journal of Geoengineering Case
Histories will become the first place to search for resources of that type,
because it has all the benefits of the rest of the journals, but also takes
advantage of the network opportunities. Papers and data will also be
constantly re-classified in the most convenient and appropriate way to make
the data more accessible to interested parties.
Only data presented in the paper (e.g. in graphs) will be requested. By
posting a datasheet with the data, the use of the data is greatly facilitated,
making your contribution more important and more likely to be referenced.
The journal is a dynamic, flexible mean devoted to make your data more
accessible and your contribution more useful. Additional webspace will be
provided to store more information in collaboration with the Geoengineer
Website.
Your paper will always be easily-accessible, searchable by search engines,
and promoted in various ways. When your paper is published an e-mail will
be sent to the members of the journal's free newsletter promoting your
paper!
The effort is not financially motivated, but was initiated by engineers,
members of our Profession, that know the needs of our Profession and are
devoted to satisfy them.
The journal will also be printed in volumes and become available at cost for
libraries and any interested parties every 6 months. The authors of the
published papers will probably receive a copy of the volume for free when it
is published.
These are some of the current reasons. This is a constantly developing
activity and soon there will be more reasons.
